New computer assembly and work overload

Well, it took a lot of time (first parts ordered in end of september), but i finally got my new pc together, and it wasn't easy, due to my own lack of habit of doing this kind of thing.

Here if my full config )

I started building monday, and when everything was together tuesday, i noticed some sever overheating problems. I eventually decided to throw my 60€ CPU cooler away and try the factory one: no luck. When i was ready to give up hope, i realized i had made a tragic mistake that helped correcting that mess once and for all: i had set up the RAM's speed to 2Ghz (instead of 1Ghz) in the bios, unaware that setting was implicitly overvolting my CPU way beyond its recommended setting. I fell rather stupid -.-

But now, everything is fine, i can start enjoying my computer: i started playing Bioshock :)
After that, Crysis and Witcher enhanced edition :D

As for work, i really didn't manage my time correctly since september. I am now trapped in a 3 weeks time frame with a HUGE work load. The only way out of this is probably to make insane after hours, so it's likely i won't be around much on the net until mid-december, except maybe on saturdays. It's likely i won't have time anything but working and sleeping during those 3 weeks :(

Because userinfocabcat asked me to~ ^.^

So what to say - it's been three years since i got a job as an analyst programmer, and things have been doing rather good since then. I'm not going to go through everything i did since then, but i feel a bit more mature, less shy and socially capable then ever before. I also managed to make really neat progress in english, especially when it comes to speak it, thanks to my work.

I became however rather strongly passive in the world of furries, i just enjoy going out now and then, and i do keep an eye on FA but i don't participate much in forums and such anymore. I occasionnaly try to draw, but we'll see if i ever manage to reach a level that will satisfy my own now higher standards in that area.

So, what happend recently? Well~ I moved! My new room is totally huge - i could have a ping-pong match in there without problem :P. It was tiring since we had less than a week to prepare everything, and my computer died. Lucky I'm currently putting a new one together, eventhough i won't get all the parts before probably next week :(.

But I still live with my parents, and I'm now 29 x.x My current excuse is that i'm saving to obtain a loan in order to buy a small flat, since renting is a total waste of money in my humble opinion. The computer i'm currently assembling is supposed to be my last big spending before i finally start putting money aside.

I said too much already D: So, till next time x3

I should really write about this week end's furmeet, but i feel so lazy :<

Minimal: You would most likely not get caught, but if you did, it would be due to technological developments arising after the case had gone cold.

GGee, i haven't posted in here in like forever XD.

So yeah, i'm still alife and well, still being employed (for now...) so still very busy XP (and will be much much more than ever this summer). But i still enjoy the fandom a lot, eventhough i don't have nearly as much as before to talk online or do more than posting now and then on FA.

Oh, and for those who know what it means, I'm at page 260/607 of Harry potter and the half blood prince :p

Furmeet

Bon bon! Alors une update, une :)

Le furmeet de mercredi:

D'abord le négatif: j'avoue que comme dans un furmeet sur 2, on improvise un peu trop, on ne fait finalement pas grand chose, et ce sont toujours les mêmes qui monopolisent la parole, résultat, ben on se distrait comme on peut en tourmentant le chat ou en dessinant ^.^;

Merry Christmas

  • Dec. 25th, 2006 at 11:42 AM

Merry christmas to you all!!

Joyeux noël à tous!!

Gelukig Kertsmis!!

n___n

***

For the first time ever, i got to be the one that bought ALL the presents (aarg, so much work on wrapping them all)! I'm now equipped with a Radeon 1950 Pro, my very first non-onboard graphic card! Too happy X3. For starters, I'm playing Painkiller and GTA: San Andreas, untill FEAR and Prey arrive by mail. Waaah, too cool to play on pc, i've been dreaming about it for so long :p.

On another note, things are doing pretty well for me at the moment, eventhough having a job lowers one's free time dramatically x.x. I still need to adjust and manage my time beter, i'm neglecting the furry fandom a bit too much at the moment :( . Fortunately, there wednsday's furmeet! ^.^

I WON! :D

YES!

I managed to to actually graduate as a programmer, despite all the time consumed by the job i started at the beginning of the month! n_n. Unfortunately, it was at the expense of quality, so i did graduate, but not with as good results as i had hoped.

But still! First paycheck in less than a week, and no more hardwork in the evning anymore n_n I'm happy :D *bounces and does a foxy dance*

Now, to wait till the end of the month to get some beter video card and possibly more RAM, provided i don't get enough to buy a new screen X3

I was looking for resources about SQL syntax when i saw an ad for this thing:

http://www.google.com/codejam/

It seems to be a completely free coding contest that's bond to be challenging, especially given the 1st price is 10 000 US$! It's available in 5 programming languages: Java, C++, C#, VB.NET and Python.

Hurry, registration will close on Tuesday, September 5th at 9:00 AM EDT :3

Well, i just decided that using my actual name instead of this rusty old one i've been using before i even created my character was beter, so here is my new screen name there from now on:

MikeLightfox , instead of thefuroticafan

Job hunting and Mémoire

It's been far too long since my last entry ^^;

I'm still working on mymémoire currently, and sometimes it's really getting on my nerves: i feel like whatever i'll do, the teacher WILL find a way to say what i've done is unrealistic, so i'm progressing really too slowly. Anyway, i'll have to give it a boost now, since time is almost up, and an actual job might get around the corner soon.

Admitingly mostly because i'm forced to do so by social help, i've been job hunting quite a lot recently...and today, i passed my very first test for a potential interview for a job a computer programmer. The formula was quite unusual: i had to take a test online while a developper was chatting with me through jabber (a messenger).

And eventhough the website where i was directed was aimed at python programmers, it was quite a lot of fun to play the little games on that website! The principle was really challenging: successive pages, each containing a double riddle: the first riddle is to find out what the problem is, the second one is to solve the problem and use the result to get to the next page!
I didn't go that far though, since from page 4 (the first one is 0), you need to be able to send http requests and parse the resulting html page...but the good part was that i actually got to use my RotX program to solve one of the problems XD

Here is the website if any geeky reader is interested ^^

http://www.pythonchallenge.com

Let me know how far you go is you take the test :p

Chaotic life

Many things are happening again...

The bad things first )

The good things now :)

- They didn't come to take all our stuff after all lats week, dad's trick worked just fine, and it wil give us month, even years of delay if we're lucky ^^

- Second life is now FREE! Of course, i instantly tried it ;). Like i was expecting, it is rather addictive, and what's really impressive is how EVERYTHING can be created/altered in that thing, from a simple baloon to completely custom skins, even vehicules of any kind.

Now, modeling seems really a hard task, since the interface isn't the most user friendly i saw, but it's impressive what some experimented people can do with just sphere and cubes merged into one thing O.O

The most difficult part for a furry in there though, is to actually get an avatar when you don't know anything about the world. Of course you can create your own, but it's awfully difficult. Fortunately, i knew a couple of furs there! [info]buttbadger was the first i met, i could see the furry part of world for the first time thancks to him ^^ And yesterday, i met [info]issarlk :D He was very kind and showed me a lot things, some that i didn't completely expect too O.O I really want take this opportunity to thancks them both again, especialy Issarlk ^^

You Are 44% Cynical

Yes, you are cynical, but more than anything, you're a realist.
You see what's screwed up in the world, but you also take time to remember what's right.

Furmeet in Leuven

Thursday and Friday, i've been to a little furmeet organized by userinfodesim1985. There was Also userinfodark_epsilon
, his mate, userinfofenax, and a new one from Brussels. We rather had a good time, trading stuff, playing Stepmania and talking ^^. In the evening, we went to the movies and watched "Scary movie 4". And...i was right to dread that part :P. It was really terrible, with a lot of disgusting/horrible/stupid/not funny jokes ^^; . Not to mention I probably never saw even one of the movies it was parodying =_=. Ah well :P

The newcomer didn't look too frightened or bored, so i guess we can hope to see him again, eventhough he seemed like the most "normal" guy of the group =P

We finished the evening with a raclette, which was quite yummy and a definetly welcome change to the usual pastas we always eat when i'm around (since i'm vegetarian) =P. Dark had also brought a special pie from his dad's restaurant that i really like X3

The night was, as always, long, very long :P. And it was rather hard to ignore some sounds, eventhough i tried to close my eyes most of the time O.O. But fortunately, endorphine induced laughs and euphoria made it all easier to bear XP

Friday was finshed at the speed of light after sleeping until almost noon, we barely had to time to finish trading data O.O Well, i have to admit i did have over 50 GB of animes with me :P. So when others were stealing my stuff, i've just scketched in Dark's sketchbook ^^. I'll post the scans sometime later on my FA account :3

In the end, it was rather fun ^^. Too much time was wasted on machines again though, we should have tried harder to actually do things together, like stepmania or some other thing X3. But it was still quite enjoyable, and the atmosphere in the dorm where we were was nice and looked really friendly (but the room was smaller than i expected) ^^

Mind wondering...when I think about it, there isn't really much one can accomplish while constantly being stuck on a computer. Sure, there are loads of informations out there on anything you want, but is it enough? Watching animes, or movies and playing video games...take that out of a computer addict and there isn't much left. In my case, take the coding away and there is even less left. You especially realise that when someone who doesn't like either video games or animes asks you what's up :P

And yet, the world is so nice and beautifull out there, especially in summer...so why in the hell am i cursing the sun for preventing me from seeing what's going on the screen? XP I should really try to actually LIVE in reality rather than being constantly in front the screen~...but to do what? I wonder. That reality thing still requires further investigations.

In the mean time~

I was rather surprised with the results of that one.

SStolen from userinfocabcat

This one is so true it's scary O.O Not to mention my favourite element is indeed Ice X3

Where was your soul born?[pics + detailed answeres]

Your soul was born in Ice.Some might think that water and ice is the same, but that's not true. Ice is what becomes of water when water gets hurt. Your element was once water, but something happened and your element turned to ice, which resulted in you soul being born in ice. Maybe someone close to you died or someone close to you betrayed you in some way. Either way, you are now a completely different person from who you were before. You are now shy and drawn back. You want people to notice you but youre afraid to make friends. You don't want to be hurt again. Depressed and mournful thoughts is eating you up inside. You want to scream but you just keep holding it all inside in fear of being rejected. Take a chance! There's people out there and they want to be friends with you.
